So, hahaha, we have been selected as one of the top 50 dental blogs in the US of A. Must have been a slow day, since I have not been posting regularly. No, I am serious- check out the link:

I guess I need to post more to make it worth coming here. And here I thought no one even read this.

Row for the Red Cross-Donations needed!

Hey Blogosphere- I have signed up to participate in the Row for the Red Cross. This is a rowing fundraiser for the Rochester chapter of the American Red Cross. I am going to be doing a 5K (5000m) row on Sunday April 18th @ Crossfit Rochester. It would be great if you all could help out towards the cause with a donation. All funds go directly to the American Red Cross. Check out my donation page at http://www.firstgiving.com/randyraetz

If you are interested in coming out and rowing with us, just let me know. And, if you are interested in checking out Crossfit Rochester, that would be great as well!

See ya, Randy

Crossfit! Crossfit has become such a HUGE part of my life. I got fat, was always tired and my clothes were not fitting. One of my fraternity brothers from college, Andy Petranek was in Muscle & Fitness magazine a few years ago. At 41, he has a six pack! I called him and asked him what exactly he was doing and he told me Crossfit. Andy is very successful in the world of Crossfit. Check him out at http://www.petranekfitness.com . Locally, I have working out now at one of our local affiliates, Crossfit Rochester. Joe Celso is the owner and head trainer. He blogs, kinda sparse, but you get the idea. The website is http://www.crossfitrochester.com . I have great progress with the WODs( Workout Of the Day). Also check out the main HQ page at http://www.crossfit.com . I am going to try and blog about Crossfit, dentistry and stuff in general. Hopefully you won't get too bored. That is, if anyone is reading this.

Back to Blogging?

Hey, I know this blog has been dead for a couple of years. How do people find the time to write these everyday? I think I will give it a try again. Here is a link to my friend Jeff's Blog. He is going to try and row a million meters this year on his Concept 2 rower. Check out his blog at:

More for me to come along.

This very attractive young lady walked around like this for 3 years until she got this fixed. It was very easy to fix, she was terrified to have it done. I would have been terrified to smile if my teeth were like this!

Dontcha wish your teeth were clean like mine

OK, this patient was told by her previous dentist not to come back until she stopped smoking. Which she never did, so she never went back. And that was 3 years ago. Here is the photo of her lower front teeth, and then the associated x-ray. Notice that the only thing really holding in her lower front teeth is the calculus itself? NOW GO FLOSS!!

Bite me!!

Hey, now that Fall has returned, I will get this blog rolling again.

OK, so here is a picture of an 80 year old patient- she has EXCESSIVE wear on her lower anterior teeth, dontcha think? Years and years of having no back teeth and chewing with her front teeth, when she should be using the front ones only to rip and tear into food.

Ever play rugby? This guy got one in his head!
It is upside down on the front of his skull. He had frequent headaches, and finally went in and they found it. He played rugby and got hit by an opposing teammate. He thought he just had a cut, so the ER doc just sewed him up.

OK, one last one for today. Nice photo here, think this patient flosses much? Would you kiss this person, stick your tongue in their mouth? It is such a joy to smell their breath as well. How could you make out with this person!!!!!

OK, so look at this x-ray. It is a periapical film of the upper right quadrant. Notice something funny? This patient's upper right 1st molar is bombed out. AND IT WAS NOT HURTING HIM, even though the decay had gone into the nerve. Patient had it pulled out.

OK, how about some totally gross pictures of teeth? Let me see what we can post you to motivate you to clean your teeth! This is a lower right 1st molar, which had a root canal done, but the patient never had it crowned, and of course, it broke and could not be used.
